BaBa ZuLa is a music group founded in 1996 by Levent Akman, Murat Ertel and Emre Onel. While using traditional Turkish musical instruments, they created their own melody, rhythm and lyrics by using Turkish folk music methods and some electronic music.
The group launches their music as ‘Space way oriental music’. Musicians wear colourful costumes during the concert and make use of theatrical and ceremonial elements. Influenced by the Alevi and Bektashi beliefs, which leads Anatolian ideas and views, the group adds the idea of Anatolia to the universal music will in this context.
